git on ye olde Mac hardware

I've noticed that git has the propensity to cause my old sawtooth [http://lowendmac.com/ppc/sawtooth-power-mac-g4-agp.html] system to segfault. :( My source control system constitutes the greatest weakness on that computer. The hardware otherwise has performed well through the ages.

It's kinda funny how my house is more disposed to make older hardware sereve as servers while the new stuff becomes peoples' desktops -- when the rest of the world seems to do things the other way around.

If anybody's aware of ways to keep git from segfaulting on OpenBSD 4.9 i386, lemme know. My e-mail address is in my domain (just get rid of the .net part and you've got what comes before the @).
